HushScape

Sound that never repeats.

Every sound in HushScape is computed on your phone while it plays. There are no audio files, so nothing loops, nothing fades out at the end of a take, and any layer can be changed while you are listening to it.

Inside

Twelve textures, none of them a recording.

A looped recording gives itself away: the same gull, the same gust, every ninety seconds, until you hear the seam and cannot stop hearing it. A synthesis engine has no seam to find.

01

Layer them

Thunder under rain. A stream with brown noise beneath it. Each layer keeps its own level, and the phone's own volume is the master.

02

Change them while they play

Rain travels from a drizzle to a downpour with no gap, because it is being computed rather than swapped for a different file.

03

Sleep timer

Set it and put the phone down. It fades out on its own, and the countdown is on the lock screen and in the widget.

04

Widget

Play and pause from the home screen, without opening the app. The timer counts down there too.

05

Nothing to download

Twelve textures and no audio assets. The app is small, works with no signal, and never waits for a stream.

06

Built for the dark

One board, one thumb. The tile is the level control, so setting a layer takes no aiming at a thin slider.

Measured, not asserted

Every texture is held to the same loudness.

Twelve sounds built by different processes will not sit at the same level by accident, and a mix where one layer buries another is a mix nobody keeps. Each texture is measured against a broadcast loudness standard and trimmed to the same target, so switching one on does not change how loud the others feel.

Privacy

There is nothing to send.

No account, no sign-in, and no audio leaves the phone, because none is recorded in the first place. Saved mixes are stored on the device. The sound is made where you are listening to it.
